How we calculate the Consensus Big Board.
Consensus Big Boards uses a weighted scoring system to determine the global ranking of every item. Unlike a simple popularity contest where "most votes wins," we value rank order highly.
The points are assigned based on the position an item holds in a user's list. The formula is based on the maximum number of items allowed in that category (usually 20).
This system ensures that items which are consistently ranked highly by a few people can compete with items that are ranked poorly by many people. It rewards passion and high regard over mere visibility.
For large boards like the NFL Draft Prospects (where you can rank up to 200 players), the scale adjusts accordingly. The #1 player receives 200 points, scaling down to 1 point for the #200 player.
